Penny O'Dea - In Memoriam

In Memory of Penny O'Dea...

Mother to Tribe and Warriors player Kyle and Warriors player Jimmy, Penny O’Dea was a fantastic person and a terrific Mom. Even as she battled bravely against cancer, Penny was always there to lend a hand on the sidelines, in the concessions stands or wherever she was needed. Our heartfelt condolences go out to her husband Dan, her sons Jimmy and Kyle, and the rest of the O’Dea family. We will miss Penny dearly.

Harry Olsen - In Memoriam

In Memory of Harry Olsen...

Friday, October 23, 2009 The WCAA, the Wesley Chapel and Land O' Lakes Communities were awakened by the sad news that one of its most prominent though possibly the most inconspicuous members had passed away. Harry Olsen was a fixture as part of the Land O’ Lakes Little League program and a founding father and executive board member of the WCAA for seven years. His imprint on the community through his generous donation of his time and effort cannot be quantified at this time but surely will be in the coming years, as the children he coached, trained and fostered reach maturity and become the positive roll models that he exemplified in his short time with us.

Harry leaves behind not only his lovely wife Sarah, his three children Harry IV, Grace and Anna, but a group of individuals, children and community members who were fortunate enough to be touched by his compassion, devotion and giving nature. Harry’s legacy is not only the growth and development of his own children but of the communities children as well.

Derek Pieper - In Memoriam

September 25, 1988 -- July 28, 2006

The Derek Pieper Memorial Cup was named after a WCAA Warriors lacrosse player who passed away less than a month before the start of his senior year in high school. Derek Pieper was born in St. Paul, Minnesota and moved to Florida in 2001. His life was tragically taken by two misguided teenagers. With the help of the Pasco County Sheriff’s Department, the U.S. Marshall’s Service and America’s Most Wanted, Derek’s murderers were captured. Derek’s life was taken too soon, but the 17 years he was alive he had a passion for the church, family, friends, helping others, and lacrosse. Thanks to the tournament, Derek will never be forgotten. He was a fun loving young man that lived life to the fullest, never had enemies, a stranger to no one and in 17 short years he positively influenced people to play hard, have fun and smile as any day could be your last.
